Two years ago, we fell in love with this beautiful 19th century stone house, with its charm that has remained intact.
La Nuit & Le Jour is an old manor house surrounded by its wooded park, in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, in Vertheuil, one of the most beautiful villages in the Médoc. It is ideally situated between land and sea… five kilometres from Saint-Estèphe, seven kilometres from the Gironde estuary, thirty kilometres from the ocean, sixty kilometres from Bordeaux.
After more than a year of work, we will be delighted to open our door wide and welcome you to this beautiful house that we have renovated with passion and authenticity.
At night, we suggest you sleep in one three large bedrooms in the house. Spend the evening strolling in the park or reading a book in the living room by the fireplace, a glass of wine in your hand.
During the day, enjoy your breakfast in the shade of the lime trees before taking the wine route for lunch and then spending the afternoon contemplating the ocean.
Happy to share and to welcome you, we conceive our guest house as a house of friends where everyone feels welcome. Art of living, conviviality and simplicity are the key words …
See you soon for the opening! Inauguration and reservations to follow.
Audrey & Thierry
Its moon-earth color, the minerality of the marble of its fireplace and its stone wall give this room its spirit and name.
The atmosphere is hushed and soft, warmed by the wood of the old parquet floors and furniture, the velvet of its small lounge.
We find there all the original bourgeois accents of the house.
The sunny aura of this room comes from the warm light and the terra cota nuances of its original terracotta tiles.
The atmosphere is pure and restful, the materials and tones natural.
The whitewashed walls reinforce this authenticity and this feeling of simplicity.
This room with its floral wallpaper is a nod to the original tapestry found on its walls.
This revisit echoes the past, but also the garden towards which this room is resolutely turned.
A real Proust’s madeleine, the spirit of the place evokes a faraway stay at your grandmother’s house…
We make it a point of honour to work with local producers, to share the fruits of our garden, to choose fresh and seasonal products, to cook at home.
Breakfasts, boards and bistro portions to be eaten in house or preparation of picnic baskets to be taken away on a walk…
The house is at your disposal for your family celebrations or friends parties, your wedding or a business meeting. We organize your tailor-made events. Feel free to tell us about your projects.
Audrey: communication, events, scenography, decoration.
Thierry: graphic design, art direction, photography, decoration.
Both of us are the happy owners of this house and, with our professional experience, we are at your service to organise your events, create the decoration and the visual communication that goes with it!
Lots of upcoming projects. The time to set everything up in the house and we can then have a some fun … We will keep you posted!
Modern creations, antique objects, timeless or with an old-fashioned charm, we will soon offer you a very personal selection of discoveries that we love.
Champagne and wines, regional specialties, home-made jams, herbal tea … to take away or to eat on the spot very soon.
We bought this house because it had remained intact, as if frozen in time, with all its history still present.
This house is a kind of heritage that was entrusted to us, filled with its 19th and 20th century archives and its original furniture.
A place that is embodied and not sanitized by standard, charmless renovations.
Today, we are not trying to make it perfect but to sublimate it and give it back its letters of nobility.
We are reusing much of its furniture and crockery, and we have tried to keep as much of the original flooring as possible.
The woodwork has been kept intact and renovated, with the exception of the bedroom windows, which have been redone almost identically by a carpenter from the neighbouring village.
The stone walls have been restored with a traditional lime plaster.
The electrical system has been redesigned with particular attention to the choice of sockets and switches, in old-fashioned Bakelite.
Central heating was installed via a copper network and modern radiators with a classical design.
Many elements are second hands, such as the 1930s bathroom sinks, lightings and other decorative accessories.
Some of the walls of the house have been preserved in their original state, with the charm of patina and time.
Our wish is to preserve the soul of the place while bringing a contemporary touch, mixing past and present.
